Microsoft, Google and Apple launch events back to back

October end will see some major launch events with Microsoft all set to launch Windows 8 and Surface, Google with its LG Nexus 4 smartphone and a possible Android 4.2 and Apple launching the iPad Mini.

Microsoft: Windows 8 and Surface
When Microsoft began to send out invitations for its Windows 8 launch event on Oct. 25 they did not mention anything about the Surface. Now, Microsoft has confirmed that the Surface will indeed make an appearance, as another invitation sent later on highlighted the tablet’s debut.

“You’re invited to celebrate Windows 8. Including a Microsoft Surface Reception,” read the invite.

Microsoft is entering the tablet industry at a crucial time when mobile slates are on track to outshine traditional PCs. A recent report from Forrester Research supports this notion, indicating that tablets will become the primary computing choice for millions around the world. Global tablet sales are projected to reach 375 million in 2016, the report says.

Apple: iPad Mini
Apple has sent out invitation for an event held on 23rd October. Since Apple invitations are never clear of what the agenda of the event is, it is anticipated that Apple will be launching the iPad Mini.

The unconfirmed iPad Mini specification are that the iPad Mini will be available in 16 models ranging from 8GB up to 64GB with the option of black, white, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi with 4G.

It's also possible that Apple will use the event to introduce a 13in MacBook Pro with Retina Display, updated Mac Mini and an updated iMac – possibly including 21in Retina. All will be revealed on 23rd Oct. So let’s wait and watch.

Google: Android 4.2 & LG Nexus
The Android 4.2, Key Lime Pie release date could be as early as Oct. 29, as Google sent out invitations to a media event where the software is expected to be unveiled. This event will take place in New York City at 10:00 a.m. and will be streamed live on YouTube.

Google is expected to introduce the new LG Nexus 4 smartphone which will most likely run the new build of Android, Key Lime Pie. With Key Lime Pie's launch, it will be Google's 3rd Android launch in 2012. Android 4 Ice-scream Sandwich and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean were launched earlier this year.
